- VISTA
-
- This another series from an animation sequence, this time it was rendered by
- VistaPro from VRLI.
-
- The 'island' you see is actually a FractalPro-created Digital Elevation Map
- (DEM) which has been fed into VistaPro and rendered as a flyover animation
- of 562 frames.
-
- All the originals are in 768x480 24-bit with up to 16 million colors.
-
- I used a Cube Mandelbrot Set as the original shape for FractalPro to render
- as a VistaPro DEM (which it does in real time while it does its ordinary
- image rendering). Then I transferred the DEM file to VistaPro and used
- VRLI's MakePath program to lay out a flyover path around the 'island'.
-
- VistaPro let me set up a color palette and sea-level to make this object
- look surrounded by water. I then modified the color palette to make the
- plateau surface of the Cube Mandelbrot Set into something resembling a
- seething volcano, with brown cliff-like edges. Then VistaPro let me
- add palm trees (for which I chose blue-green stalks and purple leaves)
- at the edges of the island. Stars in the black night sky completed the
- VistaPro preparations.
-
- The end result was rendered at highest images quality (altitude shading
- set to maximum, Polygon 1 size, at 768x480 24-bit) in VistaPro as a
- series of 562 images and viewed using the DPS Personal Animation Recorder.
- It is a spectacular flyover of an island that never was, in a fractal
- universe of my own imagination. It's an extremely realistic look into
- the surreal.
